Plum Lake Event & Equestrian Center, Inc. (originally, Plum Lake Dressage LLC) was carved out of the woods on the east end of Plum Lake in 2000 with the goal of creating a safe haven for learning the intricacies of French Classical Dressage. Top level instructors such as Dominique Barbier, Kathy Kopp, Frank Grelo, Katie Hiller, Fred Kappler and Susan Medinica were brought in to conduct clinics, symposiums and camps.

Over time the emphasis broadened to include workshops in equine chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture; endurance riding; lessons geared especially to youth; trail riding; as well as various equine assisted therapies.

This led to hosting assorted events here at the Equestrian Center such as a Haunted Hayride, Bazaars, various Family Fun Fests, Health & Wellness Fairs and a Barn Dance. For these we hired the Milky Way Coffee Company food truck who served espresso and other coffee drinks as well as breakfast and lunch/dinner selections.

During the pandemic we updated the indoor arena and barn, outdoor arena, and trails to be able to offer the facility for hire to those wanting this type of venue. Weddings, craft/art fairs, concerts, canine events, mountain/fat tire biking, cross county skiing and/or snowshoeing in addition to equine related activities are among some examples of what could be done! For instance, currently once monthly TLC Canine Training rents the facility for agility training in the indoor arena one day and search & rescue training in a fenced in area on the acreage the other day.

PLEC is located on 60 lovely acres. The indoor arena and barn area are heated with a sound system and viewing area. The outdoor arena also has a sound system and is lighted. There are trails of varying degrees of difficulty throughout the property.
