I REALLY DON’T WANT TO LEARN HOW TO IMPERSONATE AN ICE CUBE!…
What a winter we’ve had so far! A little bit of everything! The extreme cold and wind are the worse part of it in my biased opinion. Ah, this too shall pass. SOOOOO grateful for a heated barn and arena!
For the most part, our after school riding lessons have continued uninterrupted. Kudos to our students (adult & kids) and families for their tenacity despite the weather! We have begun using our newest horse for lessons for our more advanced students. Zeus is an 11YO Andalusian gelding who has been trained in classical dressage. He requires a light steady hand and a quietly expressive seat and legs. We’re hoping to introduce Rick A Shay, a 7YO Friesian/ Pinto cross gelding to the lesson program by summer. He’s been in training with Tuscanny Bellman for general all-purpose riding and horsemanship spanning multiple disciplines. He’s a steady eddy kind of guy so we’re anxious to get him going! Rocky, Chip and the pony, Tommy, remain our base lesson horses. How wonderful it is to have these amazing horses as part of our Plum Lake Equestrian Center team!

Our next big event is out 5th Family FunFest Fundraiser scheduled for March 28 from 9am-3pm. The Plum Lake Libraby is this year’s recipient of generated funds!
The Bounce Houses are reserved (Thank you, Pump Up the Party!) and Kraft’s Kuddly Kritters will be returning with their petting zoo. Once again, we will have games, competitions and prizes. Ms B’s Creations is returning for face painting and hair beading artwork. The groomed trails will be open for snowshoeing, skiing, or fat tire biking (bring your own equipment) depending on what the weather hands us.
We will again offer pony rides, and the zipline will be running. New this year are demos and instruction in canine agility techniques with Carol Lofquist’s TLC Dog Training. Please don’t bring your dogs, though. Experienced dogs will be provided!
Once again, the Milky Way Coffee Co food trailer will be on site with an assortment of bakery, food & beverages. The Rail Bar will also be open offering various beers, wine and sodas.
If the maple trees cooperate, Sugar Shack tours will again be offered.
Sounds like a pretty full day to me! Wristbands at $10/person (3YO and up) provide access to all activities. Check out the website or FB page to get updates on all of the happenings!
Would you consider being a Sponsor or a Volunteer?
We are looking for sponsors for FunFest. Recommended sponsorship levels are $100, $200, & $300 but we most certainly will accept whatever you’re willing to help with. Sponsorship can be for a particular game, competition or activity and you or your company will be mentioned accordingly! We are not a 501(k) but the library will most certainly provide you with a donation slip should you want one, We’re also in need of prizes for our games and competitions.
In addition to the above needs, we are also looking for volunteers to monitor the bounce houses, games, etc. inside. Also, several people to help with pony rides, parking and the zipline outside. Please contact us at plumlakeequinectr@gmail.com or 414-312-1630 if you can assist. Thank you!!
Upcoming Events
We also have lots happening at the barn throughout the year. TLC Dog Training offers ongoing classes and workshops here, giving dog owners a fun, supportive place to train and learn together. And looking ahead to summer 2026, our Youth Summer Horse Camp will be back – helping kids build confidence, horsemanship skills, and unforgettable memories with our wonderful horses. Check out our calendar of events here: https://plumlakeequestriancenter.com/upcoming-events/
Host your next event here.

I love hosting private and small corporate events that don’t need a fancy ballroom – just a great setting and room to connect. Our barn and outdoor spaces offer a unique Northwoods feel, perfect for meetings, retreats, celebrations, and community get-togethers. If you’re looking for a relaxed, memorable space where people can feel comfortable and inspired, I’d love to help you make it happen here.
