Adult Riding Program
Learn to Ride – or Fall Back in Love with It
At Plum Lake Event & Equestrian Center, we welcome adults at every stage of their horse journey. Whether you’ve never sat in a saddle, you’re returning to riding after years away, or you simply want to spend time around horses without ever getting on one, there’s a place for you here on our 60-acre Northwoods Wisconsin property.
New to Riding?
It’s never too late to start. Our beginner-friendly lessons are built for adults – patient instruction, well-mannered horses, and a relaxed pace that lets you build confidence one step at a time. No experience necessary, just curiosity and a willingness to learn.
What to expect:
- One-on-one or small-group lessons matched to your comfort level
- Time spent learning horsemanship basics, not just riding – grooming, tacking up, and understanding horse behavior
- A calm, judgment-free environment for first-timers
Returning to Riding After a Break?
Maybe you rode as a kid, or it’s been a few years since you were last in the saddle. We’ll help you knock the rust off – refreshing your seat, your confidence, and your connection with a horse – without making you feel like you’re starting from zero.
What to expect:
- A quick assessment of where you’re at, so lessons meet you there
- Refresher sessions on riding fundamentals and horse handling
- Flexible scheduling for adults balancing work and family life
Just Want to Be Around Horses?
Not everyone wants to ride – and that’s more than okay. If you’re drawn to the quiet, grounding experience of caring for horses, we offer hands-on time with our herd: grooming, feeding, leading, and simply being present with these animals. It’s a wonderful option for stress relief, connection, and learning about horses at your own pace.
What to expect:
- Guided horse care sessions (grooming, groundwork, feeding routines)
- No riding required – just time and connection with the horses
- A peaceful escape into farm life in the Northwoods
Why Plum Lake?
Tucked into the woods of Sayner, Wisconsin, our farm offers a genuine Northwoods setting for your riding journey. Whether you’re here for a single lesson or an ongoing program, you’ll be learning in a real working equestrian environment.
